Food Distribution

Information about United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) food commodities, Department of Defense (DOD) fresh produce, distribution centers, and processing of commodities.

General Information

Personnel review and approve the application known as the Agreement for Distribution of Donated Food; conduct onsite reviews of food processing companies; provide training, workshops, and technical assistance to sponsors; monitor and ensure compliance with program regulations; and order from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Distribution Programs (Outside Source) all commodity foods for California programs. Responsible for offering and distributing those commodities to local agencies; and for management of warehousing and invoicing recipient agencies for shipping and handling costs.
