California Collaborative for Youth Development (Outside Source)
The California Collaborative for Youth Development is a body of participating agencies and organizations with a shared interest and investment in the development of youth throughout California. This Web site contains the Youth Development Summit 2004 Webcast, and youth development trainings throughout California.

California Healthy Kids Survey
The California Healthy Kids Survey is a voluntary, anonymous, confidential student and school staff student report of attitudes, health risk behaviors, and protective factors.

Getting Results
This collection of documents is designed to help California school districts use research-based strategies in designing and implementing their alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention programs, as well as their youth violence prevention programs. Updates 1 and 5 pertain to youth development issues.

  • Update 1: Positive Youth Development: Research, Commentary and Action highlights the importance of a youth development approach in developing safe and healthy students.  
  • Update 5: Student Health, Supportive Schools, and Academic Success consists of comprehensive discussions of the research on health variables, risk behaviors, supportive school environments, and academic success.

Healthy Kids Resilience Module Report (Outside Source)
This is a report of statewide data about levels of youth assets. Included are Fact Sheets one and three. These fact sheets show the relationship between youth assets and the academic success of students. The research suggests that students with more assets have better academic success, based on API scores and standardized test scores, compared to students with fewer assets.

The Resilience and Youth Development Module of the California Healthy Kids Survey (Outside Source)
This is a student survey that provides data pertaining to the levels of youth assets in schools, the home, the community, and among peers.

Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report
The Safe and Healthy Kids Annual Report provides information related to programs and other services that address alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence.

The Search Institute (Outside Source)
The Search Institute is a nonprofit research organization that has conducted research pertaining to the positive things young people need to succeed. They identified 40 developmental assets important for positive youth development. The Web site has a wealth of information pertaining to assets building research, resource materials, conferences, staff development opportunities, and other related information. New research articles are posted on their Web site under Insights and Evidence.
