Dear Publishers of Science Instructional Materials for Kindergarten Through Grade Eight:

PUBLISHER BULLETIN NUMBER 5 – 2006 SCIENCE PRIMARY ADOPTION
PUBLISHERS INVITATION TO SUBMIT MEETING FOLLOW-UP Q & A

The Invitation to Submit Meeting for the 2006 Science Primary Adoption was held on January 10, 2006. At that meeting, Curriculum Commissioners and California Department of Education (CDE) staff provided an overview of the adoption process, rules and regulations for publishers, and the Criteria for Evaluating Instructional Materials. Publishers were also given a copy of the Invitation to Submit (ITS) document.

A number of questions were posed during the meeting and in subsequent meetings with individual publishers. This bulletin responds to those questions.

The State Board-adopted Schedule of Significant Events for the 2006 Science Primary Adoption is enclosed as Attachment B with this bulletin. Please review the key dates carefully, in particular the submission deadline of March 1, 2006. We must receive your submission packet no later than 5:00 p.m. on that date in order for you to participate in this adoption.

If you have any questions regarding this subject, please contact Suzanne Rios, Administrator, Instructional Resources Unit, at 916-319-0665 or by e-mail at srios@cde.ca.gov. You may also contact Patrice Roseboom, Lead Consultant, Instructional Resources Unit, at 916-319-0509 or by e-mail at proseboo@cde.ca.gov.
