The second publisher briefing for the 2008 Kindergarten through Grade Eight Reading Language Arts/English Language Development Primary Adoption has been scheduled for November 29, 2006. Specific meeting information is listed below.

Agenda

The proposed agenda for the meeting is enclosed. This meeting will focus on providing guidance for effective and efficient instruction for struggling readers and for students experiencing difficulty learning to read and may include students who use African-American vernacular English, English learners, and students with disabilities.

Who Should Attend

It is expected that those interested in attending this briefing will include:

  • Editorial consultants responsible for developing materials and completing the Standards Maps for the California submissions
  • Individuals responsible for California sales and marketing

We strongly encourage representatives from the editorial staff to attend as well as special consultants who may be working on your proposed submissions.

Publishers’ Survey

The 2008 Reading Language Arts/English Language Development (RLA/ELD) Primary Adoption Publisher Survey was distributed at the September 27, 2006 Publishers’ Briefing. If you have not returned this survey please fax the enclosed form to: Irma Hernandez-Larin at 916-319-0172. We will be using the information from this survey to estimate the number of reviewers and space needed for the 2008 Reading Language Arts/English Language Development Primary Adoption. This information does not commit you to participate in the adoption.
