2008 READING/LANGUAGE ARTS–ENGLISH-LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
PRIMARY ADOPTION
PUBLISHERS INVITATION TO SUBMIT MEETING
(PUBLISHER BULLETIN: 2007-06)
Publishers and producers of instructional materials in reading/language arts are invited to attend a meeting on January 8, 2008, to review the requirements to participate in the 2008 Reading/Language Arts–English-Language Development (RLA/ELD) Primary Adoption of Instructional Materials for California, kindergarten through grade eight.
Representatives of the publishing company that should attend this meeting include those responsible for:
- Meeting the instructional materials adoption requirements and timelines.
- Producing the submission CD-ROM.
- Completing the standards maps and optional evaluation criteria maps.
- Editing and writing the program.
California contacts and bids and contracts representatives of the publisher are also encouraged to attend.

The Publishers Invitation to Submit: 2008 RLA/ELD Primary Adoption (ITS) document will be distributed at this meeting. We will also be reviewing instructions for the submission CD-ROM. A tentative agenda for the meeting is attached.
Also included with this bulletin is an RSVP form. Please indicate whether or not you will be attending the ITS Meeting by filling out and returning the enclosed RSVP form by December 20, 2007, indicating the number of people who will be attending. If you are unable to attend the meeting and would like to receive a copy of the ITS and the submission CD-ROM, you may request a copy of these items by using the same form.
The ITS document will also be available on the California Department of Education (CDE) Web site at Instructional Materials on or after January 8, 2008. For your information, we have enclosed the revised Schedule of Significant Events for the 2008 RLA/ELD Primary Adoption.
