Dear Publishers of Kindergarten through Grade Eight Reading/Language Arts–English-Language Development Instructional Materials:

2008 READING/LANGUAGE ARTS–ENGLISH-LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
PRIMARY ADOPTION CRP/IMAP TRAINING
PUBLISHER PRESENTATION TIMEFRAMES (PUBLISHER BULLETIN 2008-09)

This bulletin contains information you will need in preplanning your publisher presentations during the session of training that has been set up for your program type (Basic or Intervention). A subsequent bulletin will be sent out in the coming weeks that will contain the specific time(s) of your program(s) presentation and the designated room(s).

CRP/IMAP Training

Both sessions of training for Content Review Panel (CRP) and Instructional Materials Advisory Panel (IMAP) members will be held at the Doubletree Hotel, Sacramento located at:

Training Session Schedules
  • Basic Programs 1, 2, & 3:

Publisher presentations will be scheduled on April 11, 2008

  • Intervention Programs 4 & 5:

Publisher presentations will be scheduled on April 24, 2008

Publisher Presentations

Publishers have been allocated time for their presentation as follows:

  • Program 1 and 2 Elementary (grades kindergarten through eight [K–8])

    Publishers submitting programs with seven to nine grade levels will have presentation timeframes broken down as follows:

    • 60 minutes to present program
    • 15 minutes to review English-Language Development components for Program 2 only
    • 10 minutes Question-And-Answer Period (Ten minutes period when panel members may ask questions of the publisher’s representatives present.)
    • 5 minutes CRP/IMAP Discussion Period (An additional 5 minutes for CRP and IMAP members to discuss the program among themselves.)
    • 15 minute passing period between presentations*

      * Not counting the 15 minute passing time, publishers will have a total timeframe of 75 minutes for Elementary Programs 1 and 2 (plus an additional 15 minutes for ELD requirements in Program 2).

  • Program 1 and 2 Middle Grades (grades six, seven, and eight)

    Publishers submitting programs with three grade levels will have presentation timeframes broken down as follows:

    • 45 minutes to present program
    • 15 minutes to review English-Language Development components for Program 2 only
    • 10 minutes Question-And-Answer Period
    • 5 minutes CRP/IMAP Discussion Period
    • 15 minute passing period between presentations*

      * Not counting the 15 minute passing time, publishers will have a total timeframe of 60 minutes for Middle Grade Programs 1 and 2 (plus an additional 15 minutes for ELD requirements in Program 2).
      
  • Program 3 Primary Language (K–8)

    Publishers submitting Program type 3 will have presentation timeframes broken down as follows:

    • 60 minutes to present program
    • 15 minutes to review English-Language Development components
    • 10 minutes Question-And-Answer Period
    • 5 minutes CRP/IMAP Discussion Period
    • 15 minute passing period between presentations*

      *Not counting the 15 minute passing time, publishers will have a total timeframe of 75 minutes for Program 3.

  • Program 4 and 5 Intervention (grades four through eight)

    Publishers submitting Program types 4 and 5 will have presentation timeframes broken down as follows:

    • 45 minutes to present program
    • 10 minutes Question-And-Answer Period
    •  5 minutes CRP/IMAP Discussion Period
    • 15 minute passing period between presentations*

      *Not counting the 15 minute passing time, publishers will have a total timeframe of 60 minutes for Intervention Programs 4 and 5.
      
Guidelines
  • Publishers will be given time to set-up their rooms in a timely manner (15 minutes) and time to clear materials from the room following the presentation (10 minutes).

  • Each presentation timeframe will have distinct timed segments: set-up time, presentation time, CRP/IMAP question and answer time, and panel discussion time.

  • If there are no questions from the panel members, or the panel decides there is no need for discussion, the panel will offer the balance of the time period (15 minutes or whatever time remains) to the publisher for additional presentation. Be prepared to take advantage of this opportunity to further present your program.
