Existing Academies: California Partnership Academies (CPA) 2007-08 Annual Report
The 2007-08 Annual Report is ready to download and complete. You can download it from the CPA Required Forms page. This year the 2007 CPA Annual Report is due to the High School Initiatives/Career Education Office (HSI/CEO) on or before
October 31, 2008.
New this Year:
There have been some minor adjustments in the wording of selected questions asked, and questions have been consolidated and/or moved, to
- Increase clarity and flow of the various CPA component areas.
- To enable us to address continuous improvement of the model more efficiently.
- Assist in providing assistance to California’s Partnership Academies.
This year we will begin to collect California Standards Test data in English/Language arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science in the student data sections. Please work with your District Data Manager for assistance in accessing this data.
The date for submission of the 2007-08 Annual Report is October 31, 2008. This extension is for this year only to allow coordinators time to develop a process to access and record the newly requested CST data. We plan to go back to the October 15 deadline next year.

Annual California Partnership Academies Conference
Another fantastic program and hotel awaits us! The dates and location have been identified for the
21st Annual California Partnership Academies Conference. The conference will be held March 26-28, 2009 at the Desert Springs JW Marriott Hotel and Resort in Palm Desert. Please note that this year the conference will start on Thursday, March 26th, ending Saturday, March 28th. The location is amazing and worth the trip.
Please think about participating as a session or round table presenter to showcase and share some of your academy's best practices and curriculum. Good presentations are critical components of the conference and a great way to network.
Also, if you know of a vendor that you feel will be a benefit to other academies, please refer them to Machelle Martin at mamartin@cde.ca.gov. See you in March!!!

Mentoring is a difficult implementation piece of the California Partnership Academies model. There is information and resources about mentoring at the Governor's Mentoring Partnership (Outside Source).
The Career Academy Support Network (CASN) (Outside Source) is a comprehensive resource for small learning communities (SLCs) and academies in high schools across the United States. CASN offers professional development for staff engaged in implementing academies and SLCs, produces a variety of guides and handbooks, and conducts evaluation and research.
The California Center for College and Career (ConnectEd) (Outside Source) is a hub for innovative practice, policy and research to expand the number of education pathways that prepare students for college and career. ConnectEd will advance the role that academically rigorous career and technical education plays in reforming California high schools so that more students master the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in tomorrow’s economy. As a result, more students will graduate from high school prepared for college and a career.
The National Academy Foundation (NAF) (Outside Source) was created as a partnership between business leaders and educators to address the need to prepare students for professional careers. NAF serves over 50,000 students in over 500 Academies in 41 states and the District of Columbia in urban schools through small learning communities. The National Academy Foundation operates four Academies: the Academy of Finance, the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, the Academy of Information Technology, and the Academy of Engineering. |
